Veridis.

Optical instrument for measuring leather surfaces.

Chile is a large South American leather exporter, and large manufacturers have machines that measure the surface area of leather in order to determine the sale price of the product. These machines are large, expensive and outdated. The price point and size make it inaccesible to smaller exporters and artisans, and they are also not entirely accurate. Through collaboration with software engineers, I created a portable camera, Veridis, which is capable of accurately measuring the surface-area of a piece leather surface in seconds. The aim of this design was to create a product that was portable, easily assembled, efficient and affordable.
